It's been a really long time since JoJo has been able to release new music. With all the hassles that have been thrown her way and with all the pain she endured along the years battling with personal matters and with a record company shackling her, she came through. I mean, this girl did not give up. I followed JoJo from the time she was singing "Leave" and "Too Little Too Late". I loved her vibe and her voice was a force to be reckoned with. She was my age. And she sang like that? Unbelievable. She left the scene completely, and I slowly turned to other artists, but never really turned my back on her. Car ride soundtracks always had a bit of JoJo, she had the best music to belt out to. And then, one day I hear a phenomenal song (and only on the America station we get here on the radio) and rushed to see the video on YouTube. I didn't quite catch the name of the artist nor was Shazam invented yet. So I'm watching the video...and by the 2 minute mark I completely lose it. JOJO?!!! What???? I instantly fell in love with "In the Dark". What a sensual, unique and out-there-kinda song that we needed. It didn't make it onto Canadian airwaves but I was thankful for YouTube. I started to follow her religiously, subscribing to her channel and instantly falling in love with any song she put out there for us to see. I kept wondering what was taking so long? With a voice like hers, how is no one taking her under their belts and producing music for her? I came to realize it wasn't that easy for her and she was caught in a messy situation with her record company. And alas, we are here now to enjoy her latest album "Mad Love". And boy it is good. I adore her song with Alessia Cara, a fellow Canadian, but I must say one song I find myself repeating other than this one, is FAB. JoJo if you're reading this (or I'll say I hope one day you can come across this) I just can't thank you enough for never giving up. Your music is pretty symbolic for me and my personal growth. Thank you for giving it your all. It's really too bad that I keep missing you in concert.
One day I shall see her and it will be golden.
